STAN HITCH Bracket attached to power harrow
Example of STAN HITCH Bracket with PTO attached to a power harrow. The Bracket
fits the STAN HITCH on the tractor side but has been modified to suit the power
harrow fixing points. Please see diagram listing fixing point dimensions.
The STAN HITCH requires the implements to be attached to a
STAN HITCH Bracket. The bracket is manufactured to suite the fixing point
dimensions as shown in later pages. These fixing point dimensions vary
enormously and each bracket is adjusted to suit. However, once fitted, the
Bracket can remain in place permanently and makes hitching very easy.
The STAN HITCH works by the lifting lugs hooking up in slots in the top cross
bar of the bracket. The tractor lifts the STAN HITCH slightly taking the weight
of the implement and allowing the faces of the Hitch and Bracket come into
contact. When this happens, the clamps are operated and the Bracket is held
firmly against the STAN HITCH.
If the Bracket has a PTO drive plate, this engages the drive plate on the STAN
HITCH. The STAN HITCH drive plate is driven outwards towards the Bracket drive
plate during operation of the clamps. However, the thrust movement acts through
springs which compress if the alignment of the bracket drive plate bosses do not
match the STAN HITCH drive plate holes. As soon as the drive plates turn, the
bosses fall into the drive plate holes under the spring pressure and direct
drive is attained. This ensures positive coupling of the drive plates.
